Simple Nutrition Tips

This week I’ll share some very simple tips that will certainly improve your diet and make a positive difference to your lifestyle. Please feel free to share your own tips and comments and watch out for more tips later this week.

  1. Eat regularly! By eating frequently throughout the day you will be keeping your metabolism high and energy levels constant. Aim to eat about 4- 5 times a day including healthy snacks between meals. By continually fuelling your metabolism you will burn more calories!   2. Portion sizes Make sure you do not overeat! I love this little report on portion sizes from the BBC. Take time over your food and only eat when you are hungry and until you are satisfied- not until you are excessively full. For further advice on portion sizes check out this simple guide by Bupa
  3. Limit your sugar consumption. Excess sugar will be turned into fat – watch out for foods containing hidden sugars- cereals,
    fat free snacks and fizzy drinks can be full of sugar!
  4. Eat vegetables every time you eat – That’s right! In addition to a complete, lean protein source, you need to eat some vegetables
